Every Story has a Beginning

Travelling around Latin America in 1981-82 Marga and Pieter fell in love with spacious Bolivia, her authentic culture and people. Living in this new world was so tempting that they left their home in The Netherlands with ease. They bought this promising land and called it “La Víspera” (the Eve), which refers to a celebration of what is to come, a complete new life, full of expectation.

After 30 years of complete dedication Marga and Pieter longed for the right younger couple to arrive and so secure La Víspera’s future life. Various try-outs and lessons later, they happened to meet with Marcelo again, who loved the finca already as a youngster, coming here with his parents. Upon hearing the latest news his spontaneous reaction was: “The finca is meant for me!” He called his partner Eliana telling her: “I have found your dream place.”

They started this new life as volunteers and are renting the finca now with the wish to buy it. Marga and Pieter, while living in their dream house ‘Akasha’ uphill, are gradually passing on all their knowledge and the thousands of details to this younger couple.

6 Hectares of Nature & Harmony

This spectacular aerial picture reflects the beauty of this little paradise on Earth. This is the result of 30 years of work, and we are so happy to make it available for you and your family.

The Finca

The Finca is a playground, sanctuary, home and working place. This old and vibrant land where traditional farming formed the landscape, we introduced modern biological horticulture, and developed a fusion of both, nowadays known  as permaculture. After all this years the Finca has become one of the most important places where you can get organic vegetables, organic fruit, delicious seasoning, natural medicine and home made conserves.

Exploring or staying on the finca, if only for a couple of days, leaves you with an undeniable sense of harmony. The natural beauty of it, achieved through unwavering commitment to this organically slow Life Proyect, meant to go on for many more lifes to come. An invitation to inspiration.

The Herbshop

In the Herbolario herbs are dried and processed into delicious blends on a daily basis. We also process herbal extracts, massage oils and make our own mango & cherry tomato chutneys, jams, rhubarb sauce & fruity nectar, leafy vegetables & edible flowers. All our products are part of the slow food menu at the Garden Café.

Natural Building

All beautifully finished houses are mostly built with natural local materials. We are playing with round forms, the Golden Ratio Φ and Feng Shui. A lot of experiments are going on at the moment. We built a rounded, domed little house, applying adobe, glassware and earthbags (superadobe)

Native Park

The finca is home to some 90 species of birds; you can find  iguanas, foxes, hedgehogs, squirrels, skunks, weasels, guinea pigs, bats, and sometimes even see an Andean deer, a porcupine or a mountain cat.

In the Native Park we cherish native plants and trees. The stone walls are reminders of the old Inca road leading to the local sanctuary, the current ruins of  “El Fuerte.”

The Throne

Samaipata Valley offers beauty everywhere. We found the perfect spot for your relaxations and pictures on the top of our Finca. It’s seriously beautiful. Get this memory printed in your retina!
